Sri Vijaya Puram, May 19: An awareness programme on the POSH Act was organised by With You NGO at the conference hall of DFO, South Andaman. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Sharath, ACF
The training session was conducted by Mrs. Lakshmi Vivek, a certified International POSH Trainer. During the session, she highlighted the importance of the POSH Act, its rules and regulations, and the procedures for dealing with cases related to workplace harassment. She also stressed the necessity for better implementation of the Act to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for women. She also brought out the necessity of Internal complaint committee (IC) trainings mandated under the POSH Act sec 19 c Rule 13. The trainer elaborated on the topic with practical examples, and following the session, doubts and queries raised by the participants were also clarified.
Employees, staff, and officials of the Forest Department actively participated in the awareness programme. Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Mr. Ashwin J parihar, IFS, DFO, Wimberlygunj expressed his gratitude to the NGO for organising such a meaningful and informative programme for the benefit of the department staff.
Miss V.K. Mariyam Bibi, President of With You NGO, proposed the vote of thanks to all present and expressed hope that the session would be useful for the staff in promoting a better work culture and ensuring the dignity, safety, and respect of women at the workplace.
