Port Blair, June 7: The Directorate of Education has arranged a farewell/ Blessing ceremony to send the members of Island School Rowing team (GSSS Boys, GS Manglutan, GSSS Girls & GSS Prothrapur) alongwith Contingent Manager, Shri Ganesh Ch: Biswas, A.S. (Sports), and Miss Sandhya Kispotta, PST, an International Rower (Manager of the team) to Kolkata to represent the Island School Rowing team in the 41st All India Invitation Schools’ Regeta-2013 (41st AIISR-2013) to be held at Rabindra Sarobar, Kolkata from June 9 to 16, 2013.
In a blessing ceremony Dr. R. Dev Das, Director of Education has advised the participants to concentrate their aim to achieve the goal and to win laurels for these islands.
Sr. Officers of Education Department were also present during the ceremony and wished he team to perform well in the Championship and to come up with flying colours. The team left Port Blair by the India Air Lines flight from Port Blair to Kolkata today (June 7), a communication said.
