Diglipur, May 04: In a political earthquake that has reshaped the landscape of Eastern India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a landslide victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections. Surpassing the majority mark of 148 seats, the BJP has successfully ended the 15-year tenure of the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC), marking a historic transition in the state’s governance.
As per report, as the Election Commission trends confirmed the “Saffron Wave” across the state, the local BJP office in Diglipur became the epicenter of massive celebrations. Hundreds of jubilant workers and supporters gathered early in the afternoon, transforming the streets into a sea of saffron.
The atmosphere was electric as supporters took out a procession through main thoroughfare, waving party flags and chanting slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”.
In a display of camaraderie, workers applied saffron-colored powder to one another, symbolizing their hard-fought victory. The sound of firecrackers echoed throughout Diglipur town, as the party’s rank and file celebrated what they termed a “new dawn” for Bengal.
“This is not just a victory for the BJP; it is a victory for the people of Bengal who were yearning for change,” said a senior local party leader during the procession.
The BJP’s victory is being viewed as an ideological shift for a state that has historically been dominated by Left-wing and regional politics. Key issues that influenced the voters included law and order, job creation, and economic development.
With the BJP now poised to form the government, the focus shifts to the selection of the Chief Minister and the roadmap for the state’s development.
