Swadesh Nagar, Jun 06: In Mayabunder Tehsil development has taken a back seat, alleged the Pradhan of Swadesh Nagar, Mrs. Silmanti Kujur in an recent interview. Regarding standstill in the developmental works, in her area, she put all the blames on the Administration.
“I have done tremendous hard work for the development of the Panchayat but due to non co-operation of Administration development of the Gram Panchayat, not only mine Panchayat but all the Panchayats which comes under the Mayabunder Tehsil, has taken a back seat,” Mrs. Silmanti Kujur added.
She pointed out that the main reason for the standstill is closure Harinagar quarry. “Harinagar quarry is one of the largest quarry of North & Middle Andaman but the same quarry has been closed for unknown reasons. Because of this it has become impossible to carry out any construction work, which is very important for the development of the area,” she said.
She further added that many of the PRI members had approached the DC N & M Andaman and Assistant Commissioner Mrs. Shakshi Mittal to reopen the said quarry but they got no response.
She further blamed that neither DC (N&M) nor AC (HQ) North and Middle Andaman made any effort in this regard and consequently the Gram Panchayat is not able to carry out any developmental works. She urged the Lt Governor to immediately intervene into this matter and reopen the Harinagar Quarry.
She further alleged that the Executive Engineer is totally negligent towards his services of Electricity Department. She also informed that the people of Duke Nagar village is getting low voltage in their area, since last few years and even after several complaints the EE (ELC) did nothing regarding to solve the problem.
She also slammed administration for not appointing a regular Tehsilder at Mayabunder the HQ of N & M Andaman from last one year.
The Pradhan also expressed her unhappiness towards the delay in construction work of Swadeshnagar Bridge (on ATR), she said it is happening because of the “incapability of the EE and higher officials of APWD” who have given full liberty to the Contractor to work slowly so that the people of the area may suffer more.
