Chainpur, North & Middle Andaman, Apr 10: The Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Chainpur, Mr. Johnson Kerketta, has urged the authorities to upgrade VKV School, Pahalgaon to the Senior Secondary level, highlighting the growing need for higher education facilities in the region.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha on this issue, Mr. Kerketta stated that the school is currently functioning up to the secondary level and has consistently maintained a high academic standard, achieving 100 percent results in recent years. He informed that more than 400 students are presently enrolled in the school, including students coming from areas ranging from Mayabunder to Chainpur.
He further pointed out that due to the absence of Higher Secondary classes (XI–XII), students are compelled to move to distant places to continue their education. This, he said, creates significant difficulties for many students and, in several cases, disrupts their academic progress. He added that students from regions with better educational facilities tend to perform well in competitive examinations and secure more government employment opportunities.
In view of the increasing demand, the Gram Panchayat has requested the introduction of Science, Arts, and Commerce streams at the school to cater to the diverse academic interests of students.
Mr. Kerketta emphasized that the upgradation of VKV School, Pahalgaon will greatly benefit the students of the Mayabunder region by providing access to quality higher education within their locality. It will also open up better career prospects for the youth of the area.
The Gram Panchayat has appealed to the concerned authorities to take prompt and positive action on this genuine public demand in the larger interest of students and the community.
