
Ograbraj, 5th April 2026: The much-awaited Ambedkar Mela 2026, organized by Gram Panchayat Mithakhari & Youth Club Ograbraj, culminated in a grand and vibrant Closing Ceremony held at Floodlight Ground, Ograbraj witnessing an overwhelming response from the public across the South Andaman region.
Dr. Apurva Sharma, DANICS, Director RD, PRIs & ULBs, A&N Administration, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and added prestige to the event with his esteemed presence.
The programme commenced with a gracious Welcome Address by Mr. Mohd Safiq, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Mithakhari, who highlighted the vision and efforts behind organizing such a community-centric mega event.
The ceremony was inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest, followed by a solemn floral tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, honouring his legacy and contributions.
Adding to the vibrancy of the Mela, a Healthy Baby Show was successfully organized on 4th April 2026 in collaboration with the Department of Health, which witnessed enthusiastic participation of nearly 50 babies, making it a heartwarming and engaging attraction for the public.
Further, on the evening of 5th April 2026, a Calf Show was organized in collaboration with the Department of AH&VS, showcasing livestock excellence and drawing significant attention from visitors and local farmers alike. The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. K.A. Naveen, Director, AH&VS, added further significance to the programme.
A major highlight of the evening was the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the best departmental stalls, recognizing innovation and public engagement:
1st Position: Department of AH&VS
2nd Position: Department of Agriculture
3rd Position: Department of Health
4th Position: Department of AAJVS
In his address, the Chief Guest lauded the dedicated efforts of Gram Panchayat Mithakhari and Youth Club Ograbraj for successfully organizing such a large-scale and meaningful event, emphasizing its role in promoting awareness, unity, and grassroots participation.
The SKSSF Ograbraj Unit was specially honoured with a Memento and Certificate of Appreciation for its commendable social service and continuous contribution towards the upliftment of society.
Dr. Apurva Sharma also visited all the stalls, interacted with participants, and appreciated the initiatives undertaken by various departments and local contributors.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. P.A. Sharfuddin, Zilla Parishad Member, Mithakhari Constituency, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, departments, organizers, and the public for making the event a resounding success.
