
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 27: The UT Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) – 2026 was successfully organised by MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram at the Mini Conference Hall, Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) on 27th March 2026 under the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The event provided a vibrant platform for youth to engage in democratic deliberations on the topic “Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the Indian Youth’s Path Towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Dr. Apurva Sharma, DANICS, Joint Secretary to Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he appreciated the confidence, articulation, and analytical ability of the youth participants and encouraged them to actively contribute towards nation-building in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Mr. Ravindra Rao, Art of Living, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, attended as the Guest of Honour. He highlighted the importance of clarity of thought, a positive mindset, and value-based thinking in shaping responsible youth leadership.
The programme was also graced by Dr. Manjulata Rao, Principal, Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), and Dr. P.V.N. Sharma, Principal, Andaman Law College, as distinguished guests, who motivated the participants and appreciated the initiative.
The panel of judges comprised Dr. P.M. Murli, Associate Professor, JNRM; Mrs. I. Shiddiqi, Assistant Professor, ANCOL; Mr. Rajesh Chandra Lal, Editor, The Echo of India; Mr. Ajit Anand, Deputy Director, DIC; and Mrs. Shabnam Singh, Social Activist, Baha’i Office of Public Affairs. The judges appreciated the high standard of presentations and shared valuable observations and suggestions for improving content delivery, articulation, and analytical approach towards public policy discussions.
A total of ten participants competed in the UT Level event, namely Himani Wagh (TGCE), Komalpreet Kaur (Andaman Law College), Disha Singh (TGCE), R. Sanjana (TGCE), Ashlee Chacko (Andaman Law College), Debojeet Halder, Anshu Tete, Blessy Godwin, Varatharajan Jayashree, and Aftab Ahmed from Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder.
Among them, Disha Singh of TGCE secured the First Position, R. Sanjana of TGCE secured the Second Position, and Komalpreet Kaur of Andaman Law College secured the Third Position. The top three winners will represent the Union Territory at the National Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament.
On the occasion, tokens of gratitude were presented to Dr. Manjulata Rao, Principal, TGCE; Dr. P.V.N. Sharma, Principal, Andaman Law College; Dr. Sunil Saini, Assistant Professor, TGCE; and Dr. Sunita Patil, Guest Lecturer, TGCE, in recognition of their outstanding support in organising the programme.
Earlier, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries were welcomed with bouquets and shawls. Mr. Sukha Ranjan Biswas, Joint Director, MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, delivered the welcome address and briefed the gathering on the objectives of the programme. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gopal Chandra Biswas, APS (OSD), who also proposed the vote of thanks.
The event concluded on a successful note, reflecting the enthusiasm, awareness, and commitment of youth towards participatory governance and the vision of a developed India.
