
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 24: An awareness programme on drug abuse prevention, treatment options, and legal consequences of narcotics offences was conducted on 24th March, at Dairy Farm Community Hall, Ward No. 14 under National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction initiative as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushal Bharat campaign. The programme was organized by Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with Anti-Narcotics–CID Branch, Health Department, and Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) with the objective of creating awareness among general public about harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of seeking timely help and treatment.
During the session, officials from Narcotics–CID highlighted legal provisions and penalties related to drug-related offences, emphasizing the serious consequences of involvement in narcotics activities. Representatives from the Health Department and IRCA spoke about the health risks associated with substance abuse, available treatment facilities, and rehabilitation services for individuals affected by addiction. The programme also included interactive discussions with the participants, encouraging community members to play an active role in preventing drug abuse and supporting individuals in recovery. The initiative received a positive response from the attendees and aimed to strengthen community awareness, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.
The programme concluded with a message reinforcing the importance of community participation, awareness, and timely intervention in addressing substance abuse and safeguarding public health.
