
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 22: Admiral D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, called on Shri Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, in New Delhi.
Consequent to highly successful award of four contracts to top end hospitality chains recently, the Lt. Governor apprised the Home Minister of the growing market interest in investing in the luxury eco-tourism resort segment in the A&N Islands. He further informed that, for the upcoming financial bid opening of the Smith and Ross Islands project scheduled for early April, eighteen high-end prospective project proponents have expressed keen interest to bid.
Additionally, highlighting that several mega hospitality, tourism, and infrastructure projects on other islands are nearing completion, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor recommended that Little Andaman be taken up in the next phase, given its vast potential to be developed as a niche global tourism destination.
