
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 03: A Capacity Building and Orientation Programme under the Mission Vatsalya was organised by the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to strengthen child protection mechanisms and enhance stakeholder capacity across the islands.
Mission Vatsalya, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aims to ensure care, protection, development, and rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law through strengthened institutional and non-institutional services and digital monitoring systems.
The programme was graced by the Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Ravinder Kumar, who emphasised commitment, coordinated functioning, and accurate reporting for effective implementation of the scheme.
The Nodal Officer, Mission Vatsalya, highlighted the importance of coordination, timely data management, proper documentation, and accountability in strengthening child protection services.
The thematic session on Mission Vatsalya was delivered by Miss Reeta Devi, Retired Women Welfare Officer and former Mission Vatsalya Nodal Officer. She provided a comprehensive overview of the scheme, including its vision, objectives, key service components, and institutional framework.
The Programme Manager, State Child Protection Society, conducted a technical session on the Mission Vatsalya Portal along with the Superintendent (JH i/c), providing practical guidance on user roles, dashboard features, and real-time data management to enhance transparency and monitoring.
Officials and staff from all three districts actively participated. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed commitment to further strengthen child protection services across the islands.
