Mayabunder, Feb 27: The Pawan Hans helicopter that met with an accident near Mayabunder on the morning of February 24 was successfully retrieved from the sea and brought to the Mayabunder jetty on Thursday evening at around 4:00 PM.
The recovery operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Police Department, PMF personnel, the Forest Department, and local fishermen. The aircraft, which had ditched into the sea following the incident, was carefully towed to shore using four to five dinghies that jointly pulled it to the jetty.
Local fishermen played a crucial role in the operation by providing their boats and extending full cooperation throughout the process. Their timely assistance, combined with the efforts of the concerned departments, ensured the challenging task was completed smoothly and safely.
Officials stated that the successful retrieval of the helicopter reflects strong teamwork and prompt response by all agencies involved. Further technical inspection of the aircraft and necessary official formalities are expected to be carried out in the coming days.
