
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 12: Seva Bharathi successfully organised a two-day Sports Meet on 10th and 11th January 2026 at the Shadipur Ground with the enthusiastic participation of around 100 children. The event aimed at promoting physical fitness, discipline and cultural values among children.
A total of 27 traditional games and sports events were conducted during the meet. Emphasis was laid on indigenous games, helping children connect with India’s rich sporting heritage while fostering teamwork, endurance and sportsmanship.
To commemorate the 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, the iconic patriotic song was sung collectively on the sports ground creating a deeply emotional and patriotic atmosphere among participants and spectators.
The closing ceremony on the second day was marked by a special programme focusing on patriotism, ethical values, discipline, importance of festivals and Sanskar Kendra in shaping the character of children. Shri C.R. Ghosh, retired chargeman of Marine Department, a senior resident (86 yrs old) of South Point graced the occasion as the chief guest. Students who performed well in various events were awarded prizes and certificates as a mark of appreciation and encouragement.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Thyagarajan, Sah Karyavah of RSS highlighted the role of value-based education in the holistic development of children. Dr. Raji also spoke on the occasion highlighting the importance of Seva Bharathi in nurturing physical, moral and cultural growth among children.
Shri Sandeep Majumdar, Senior Teacher addressed the students highlighting the importance and traditional ways of celebrating Makar Sankranti and other Indian Festivals.
