
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 12: Global Academy of Modern Fitness, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, delivered an outstanding performance at the 3rd Okinawa Gojuryu Karate Do Federation National Level Championship held at Salem, Tamil Nadu, on January 11, 2026.
A contingent of 23 players from the academy participated in the national championship and achieved a remarkable feat by returning with prizes in all categories, marking a historic moment for the islands. The academy’s athletes displayed exceptional skill, discipline, and determination throughout the competition.
In the Kata category, all 23 participants secured first prizes, reflecting the high level of technical training imparted by the academy. The team also performed impressively in the Kumite category, where three players won first prizes, five players secured second prizes, and fifteen players claimed third prizes.
Overall, the academy brought home a total of 46 prizes, proudly representing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on the national stage. The achievement has been widely appreciated by sports enthusiasts and highlights the growing prominence of martial arts training in the islands.
