Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 05: As part of the concluding programme of the All-India Solo Awareness Drive against Drug Abuse, an Awareness Programme on “Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat” was organised by the Directorate of Social Welfare at Tagore Government College seminar Gallery on 05th January at 11:30 AM.
The programme aimed to sensitize students and faculty members about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and to promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society. The event also marked the formal conclusion of the 194th day All-India Solo Awareness Drive, which was initiated on 26th June 2025 from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and successfully covered all States and Union Territories of India.
The programme featured informative and motivational sessions by eminent resource persons, including Dr. M. K. Mahato, Doctor from the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA); Mr. Manoj Lal, Sub-Inspector from the Anti-Narcotics CID Branch; Mr. Ratin Mallick, Psychologist-cum-Counsellor under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Directorate of Health Services (DHS); and Mr. Sekhar Rao, Solo Volunteer of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA).
The resource persons highlighted substance abuse prevention, mental health issues, legal implications, and the vital role of youth and community participation in achieving “Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat.” In recognition of his voluntary service and sustained contribution towards awareness generation, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Mr. Sekhar Rao by the Principal of Tagore Government College. The students were also sensitized about the registration process and benefits of the UDID Card.
Students and faculty members actively participated in the programme, which concluded with an interactive session followed by a pledge taken by the students to support the national mission of a drug-free and empowered India. The Directorate of Social Welfare expressed its sincere appreciation to the Principal, faculty members, and staff of Tagore Government College for their cooperation and support in organising the programme.
