Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 24: As part of the ongoing island-wide mass awareness campaign on ‘Stray Dog Bite Prevention and Management’, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services organised a comprehensive session at Government Middle School, Rabindra Nagar (28 Km) yesterday.
The programme, attended by 109 students and 13 staff members, was held in the presence of Head of Institution, Smti Kshiti Rani Biswas. Participants were sensitised on safe behaviour around animals, recognising signs of aggression in dogs, simple do’s and don’ts to avoid bites, immediate first-aid measures including thorough wound washing with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes, prompt reporting to the nearest health or veterinary facility, and the importance of community support for the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme.
The session featured an engaging interactive segment where students enthusiastically raised questions and practical concerns. More such sessions are scheduled across schools in North & Middle Andaman, South Andaman and Nicobar District in the coming days.
