
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 21: A State-level Inaugural Ceremony for the National Immunization Day (NID) for Pulse Polio Immunization was organized at UHC Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 21st December 2025 at 08:30 AM. The programme was inaugurated with the administration of the first drop of Oral Polio Vaccine (bOPV) by Ms. Richa, Secretary (Health) / Mission Director–UTHM, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Dr. H. M. Siddaraju, Director of Health Services, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour, along with Dr. Avijit Roy, Deputy Director (Health) / State Immunization Officer, and other officials of the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). Mr. Dipak, President, Rotary Club, Sri Vijaya Puram, supported the initiative by providing logistical and comprehensive support. Addressing the gathering, the Secretary (Health) / Mission Director–UTHM appealed to the general public to actively participate in the National Programme and ensure that all children in the age group of 0–5 years are administered the Oral Polio Vaccine by visiting their nearest polio booths.
Pulse Polio Immunization activities commenced simultaneously across the entire Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. A total of 489 polio booths have been set up, targeting approximately 20,666 children for administration of the Oral Polio Vaccine during this round. The immunization drive will be conducted over a period of three days, with booth-based vaccination on the first day, followed by house-to-house visits by health workers, stakeholders, and volunteers on 22nd and 23rd December 2025 to identify and vaccinate any left-out children, including those who may have missed their routine immunization.
