
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 21: The South Andaman Forest Division, under the aegis of the Works Committee, South Andaman Forest Division, successfully organized an Open to all league-cum-knockout Cricket Tournament titled “DFO (SA) Cup 2025” at the Mini Stadium, Wimberlygunj. The tournament, open to teams from various Government Departments, Gram Panchayats, and Youth Clubs across South Andaman District, aimed at fostering community spirit, promoting sportsmanship, encouraging physical fitness, and strengthening camaraderie among participants. Notably, this tournament marked a historic milestone as it was organized for the first time in the history of any Forest Division in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by a Works Committee, with such a large-scale participation and substantial prize money, reflecting the progressive vision and commitment of the committee towards employee welfare and community engagement.
Altogether, 19 teams, including teams from five Gram Panchayats, participated in the tournament with great enthusiasm. The grand final match was held on 20.12.2025, wherein Shifa Strikers defeated CS XI in a thrilling contest to lift the DFO (SA) Cup 2025. The winning team Shifa Strikers lifted the trophy along with prize money, while the runner-up team CS XI got runner up trophy with prize money. Apart from other individual prizes especially abled batsman was awarded with trophy and cash prize for smashing half century. The opening session of the final match was graced by Mr. Ashwin J Parihar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, South Andaman, during which Shifa Strikers won the toss and elected to bat first. Dr. A. Anil Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, (Territorial), Department of Environment and Forests, A & N Islands graced the occasion of final match as Chief Guest.
