
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 11: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, met the Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah today at Parliament House and extended a warm welcome for his proposed visit to Sri Vijayapuram on 11–12 December 2025.
During the meeting, the MP submitted a charter of important demands concerning the welfare and development of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. These include (a) introduction of Domicile Law to ensure job reservation for islanders (b) Fixing the upper age limit of 40 years for government employment, similar to Ladakh (c) Enhancement of the annual budget of the UT and sanction of a special financial assistance of ₹5,000 crore (d) Early constitution of the OBC Commission for A&N Islands (e) Granting adequate funds, powers, and functions to Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal bodies in line with the 73rd & 74th Constitutional Amendments (f) Convening a meeting of the Home Ministry’s Advisory Council and other important developmental matters relating to the UT
The Home Minister gave a positive and encouraging response to the issues raised by him.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Amit Shah for his continued support and commitment towards the overall development of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
