Port Blair, May 14: Fresh encroachments have been noticed near Mazaar area. The encroachers have become so fearless that they have now started to encroaching even the road side areas of prominent places.
A few months back there was vacant space beside Mazaar and now one can see that the entire area has been encroached by encroachers. Not only this to prove that the encroachment is old, the occupants have planted grown up banana trees in the vacant land.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Ramachandran Pillai, Tehsildar of South Andaman he admitted that he has no information about the fresh encroachment.
“I have joined here on 1st of this month as Tehsildar. Till now, I haven’t given any permission or NOC to encroachers,” was the answer of the Tehsilder.
The problem of the present system is that as far as encroachment is concerned, every official express their ignorance about the subject. Sadly because of this encroachers make merry in Andamans.
Confusion continues over extension of Revaluation Dates of JEE
Port Blair, May 14: The engineering aspirant students from Andaman and Nicobar Islands who appeared for the JEE (Mains) 2013 examinations are in a state of total confusion.
Alleging many discrepancies in the recorded responses as it differed from the one they had marked on the OMR sheets the students have been demanding extension of the revaluation dates of JEE.
However, CBSE has now decided to provide photocopy of the OMR Sheet, Answer Key and Calculation Sheet to students but it has not been made clear that if any discrepancies have been found how that would be rectified and considered.
In a notification issued today Mr. Rajbir Singh, Joint Secretary (JEE), CBSE has said that the Board has decided to provide photocopy of the OMR Sheet, Answer key and Calculation sheet to the candidates those who have appeared for JEE-(Main) 2013 on request along with prescribed fee.
“It has been decided to charge a fee of Rs.500/- from each of the candidates who intend to obtain their photo copy of OMR sheet. Answer Key & Calculation sheet. The candidates may apply for the same along with the requisite fee on or before 15.06.2013,” Singh said in his notification.
Earlier, crying foul over the discrepancies in the recorded responses, the lone Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray had requested the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to take up the matter of extension of revaluation time for Island students, who missed the opportunity to challenge the discrepancies in the OMR Sheets due to lack of information as well as shortage of time.
“The notification is not clear. It says that the students can get photocopy of the OMR Sheet, Answer key and Calculation sheet but the notification did not mentioned whether the discrepancies will be considered. We have urged the Administration to clarify the matter by issuing a notice for students,” M K Abdul Gafoor, President, Humane Touch, an NGO told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ today.
