
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 16: The 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) commenced at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This year’s edition will run from November 14 to 27, highlighting the theme “Ek Bharat: Shreshtha Bharat”, celebrating India’s unity, diversity, and national progress. The event is being participated by various States and Union Territories including Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a jewel in India’s maritime landscape, have also joined the event in a big way and erected its pavilion in the Fair. The Pavilion depicts and showcases the archipelago and its unique blend of cultural diversity, eco-tourism, and economic opportunities. In line with other States/UTs, the Andaman & Nicobar Pavilion at International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 was inaugurated yesterday by Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency in the presence of Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Tourism), Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS and other officers of A&N Administration. The Andaman & Nicobar pavilion, adorned with traditional art and exhibits, is drawing attention to the islands’ rich cultural heritage, biodiversity, and investment potential.
The Immersive Reality Zone emerged as a major attraction, offering a unique, one-of-its-kind interactive experience. Through advanced virtual simulation, visitors were able to embark on a captivating tour of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, exploring popular destinations, underwater adventures like scuba diving, and the region’s vibrant marine and ecological diversity. The zone provided an engaging glimpse into the natural beauty and adventure tourism potential of the Islands.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, the Dweep Sugandh stall set up by the Agriculture Department displayed an impressive range of GI-tagged and organic products native to the Isles, highlighting the region’s agricultural identity and traditional cultivation practices. The Industries Department showcased the craftsmanship of the Islands through elegant Padauk woodcrafts, known for their fine quality and artistic appeal.
The Fisheries and Rural Development Departments further contributed by creating market opportunities for Self Help Groups (SHGs), enabling them to showcase their rich and diverse basket of homemade and locally produced items. This initiative not only promoted local entrepreneurship but also supported the economic empowerment of SHG members, strengthening the rural economy of the Islands.
Visitors to the Andaman & Nicobar Pavilion can explore the Islands’ pristine beaches, diverse marine life, and investment avenues across sectors such as tourism, fisheries etc.
