
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 23: As part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a review meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of the campaign in the district and outlining strategies to achieve the goal of a TB-free South Andaman.
During the review, it was highlighted that South Andaman has successfully completed the screening of vulnerable populations, marking a significant milestone under the Abhiyaan. The Deputy Commissioner commended the efforts of the health teams and all stakeholders involved, emphasizing that this achievement positions the district strongly in the national drive to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner also underscored the need to further strengthen diagnostic capabilities, particularly through enhanced utilization of X-ray and NAAT testing. He directed the Health Department to prioritize completing the targets in these areas to ensure early detection and prompt treatment. He further urged all concerned departments to work collaboratively to accelerate these efforts, with the aim of making South Andaman a frontrunner among all States and Union Territories in achieving the campaign objectives.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Health Department, ICMR, and other line departments. Discussions also covered strategies for community engagement, awareness generation, and resource mobilization to sustain the ongoing momentum.
The District Administration reiterated its unwavering commitment to the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister for a TB-free India. Further review meetings will be conducted to monitor progress and address any emerging challenges.
