
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 17: The Block Farmers Advisory Committee (BFAC) meeting under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Department of Agriculture was successfully conducted on 17-10-2025 by the Zonal Agriculture Office, Diglipur at the conference hall of the GPOA Building, Diglipur.
The meeting witnessed the participation of BFAC members, Farmer’s Friend, President, Diglipur Farmer Union, and members of the Block Technology Team, including the Senior Veterinary Officer, Assistant Director (Agriculture), Industries Promotion Officer, and Assistant Fisheries Development Officer.
Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Animesh Halder, reviewed the progress of activities undertaken under ATMA. He appreciated the effective implementation of training programmes and demonstrations, which have significantly benefited farmers in the block. He also acknowledged the establishment of a Farm School on Paddy in farmer’s field in Laxmipur Panchayat.
Mr. Halder emphasized the need to continue such initiatives during the Rabi season 2025–26 as per the approved Block Action Plan, in order to ensure wider farmer outreach. He further commended the Agriculture Department’s efforts in promoting spice cultivation in the block.
Mrs. Arti Singh, Assistant Director (Agriculture), Diglipur, provided a detailed overview of various departmental schemes and the subsidies available. She urged all members and the Farmer Friends to actively disseminate this information to farmers in their respective villages.
She also informed the gathering about the availability of agricultural inputs viz. vegetable seeds, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, vermi beds, cocopeat, organic manure, vermicompost, neem cake, MOP, etc. at various sub-depots of Digipur.
Additionally, she highlighted the availability of the spices and fruits planting materials at the Multipurpose Farm, Keralapuram, Diglipur. She urged the members to inform the interested farmers to contact the nearest sub-depot in- charge. Farmers can avail of a 50% subsidy under the National Horticulture Mission (MIDH) post-planting.
Mr. Kamal Haldar, President, Diglipur Farmer Union, appreciated the initiatives of the Agriculture Department and encouraged farmers to proactively avail the inputs and planting materials made available.
Dr. T.P. Swapna, Senior Veterinary Officer, briefed the participants on the veterinary facilities and services being provided in the block. Mr. Ujjwal Dhali, Assistant Fisheries Development Officer, detailed the schemes available under the Fisheries Department for the benefit of farmers and fishermen.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive discussion on the forthcoming plan of action under ATMA, with all departments reaffirming their commitment to strengthening agricultural and allied sector development in Diglipur Block.
