Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 05: The International Day of Elder Persons was observed at Old Age Home, Abbhyuday Complex, Ferrargunj under the Directorate of Social Welfare on Oct. 1 with great enthusiasm. The programme was organized to acknowledge the invaluable role of senior citizens in the society and to reaffirm commitment towards their welfare.
The event commenced with a floral welcome of the residents. various cultural performances, patriotic songs, dance and recitation of poems were presented by staff of the institution as well as senior citizens.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Director, Social Welfare. He stated that the Government and institutions are committed to provide comprehensive support and services for the well-being of elderly people.
The celebration concluded with cake- cutting, distribution of gifts and sweets among the residents, spreading joy and togetherness. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Sheel Kar, (In-Charge) of Abbhyuday Complex, Ferrargunj.
