Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 01: The Directorate of Education, with the assistance of Campbell Bay Educational Zone, successfully organized an Open Chess Tournament at the Community Hall, Gram Panchayat, Campbell Bay. The tournament drew an overwhelming response, with over 100 participants from diverse age groups, including students, government employees, and community members, competing with great zeal and sportsmanship.
In a hard-fought contest featuring knockout and round-robin rounds, Fernan, a student of PM SHRI GSSS Campbell Bay secured the first position, while Jubin Raj (APWD Department) and Afraj, a student of Coast Guard School secured second and third positions respectively.
Smti. Bindu Verma, Principal of PM SHRI GSSS Campbell Bay, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Somorjit, HoD of the Anthropology Department, and Mr. Karthikeyan, Accounts Officer, Campbell Bay, attended as Guests of Honour. They jointly felicitated the winners with trophies and cash prizes and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all contestants.
