Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 29: The District Child Protection Unit under District Administration, South Andaman, in collaboration with PANKH NGO celebrated Navratri and Durga Puja on 26/9/25 at Balika Niketan, Attam Pahad. The event was graced by the dignitaries of Director of Social Welfare and co- founder of PANKH NGO.
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the auspicious diya by the dignitaries, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. The main objective was to promote spiritual growth among children and to help understand the spiritual significance of Navratri & the victory of good over evil.
A colourful cultural program was presented by the children of Balika Niketan and Seva Niketan wherein the Children portraying the nine forms of Goddess followed by a skit depicting the reason behind celebrating Navrati- the triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura, symbolizing the power of the truth & righteousness. Thereafter a folk dance was present by the children. All the children played Garba together and shared their joy and happiness with each other.
The program concluded with a heartfelt message emphasizing the value of courage, kindness & faith that Navrtri teaches. All the dignitaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude for being the part of the program.
The District Administration South Andaman extended their best wishes to the children & staff of the Child Care Institutions for Navratriand also ensures to celebrate such festivals not only to spread the festive joy but also encourage children to learn about India’s rich cultural & spiritual heritage.
