Vijay Nagar, Great Nicobar. Sept 30: The Education Department successfully conducted a three-day chess training programme for students under CRC GSSS Vijay Nagar at the GSSS Vijay Nagar school premises, with Shompen tribal students participating for the first time. The training programme was inaugurated by Ms. Suleka, Principal of GSSS Vijay Nagar.
The programme received an enthusiastic response, with students eagerly engaging in the training sessions. The event concluded with a simultaneous exhibition match, where the trainer played against all participants to assess their learning. Outstanding performers were felicitated with medals for their achievements.
Shompen tribal students, who took part for the first time, were specially appreciated for their best performances and were presented with gifts and chess sets to encourage their continued practice.
The initiative aimed to instill patience, focus, confidence, and discipline in young learners, while also enhancing critical thinking, concentration, and problem-solving abilities through the game of chess.
