
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 28: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar (IAS), along with Mr. Arjun Sharma (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and other senior officers of the Administration visited the Nicobari Home at South Point village, representatives of the Nicobari tribal community were also present during the visit.
The visit aimed to assess the impact of the recent landslide near the Nicobari Home and to review the progress of the ongoing construction of the retaining wall being undertaken to protect the site. While inspecting the progress of the works, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of completing the retaining wall within the stipulated timeframe to ensure the safety of both the structure and its residents.
During the interaction, the representatives of the Nicobari community also highlighted several concerns related to the upkeep and renovation of the Nicobari Home, to which the Chief Secretary directed the concerned nodal departments for prompt action.
The visit reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to preserving community assets and ensuring the welfare of the Nicobari people. By addressing both the infrastructural requirements, such as the construction of protective works, and the community’s concerns regarding maintenance and renovation, the Administration reaffirmed its resolve to respond to local needs in a proactive and time-bound manner.
