
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 26: In a unique celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day, students and staff of PM SHRI Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Campbell Bay joined hands with the Indian Coast Guard to organize a Chess and Coastal Cleanup Programme at the scenic Laxman Beach, Campbell Bay.
Students, teachers, Indian coast guard officials and volunteers enthusiastically took part in the beach cleanup, collecting plastic and other waste, while also participating in a chess activity that challenged their strategic thinking.
The event highlighted the theme: “Checkmating plastic and protecting our coast while promoting chess.” It encouraged students to think critically, act responsibly, and understand the importance of sustainability in their daily lives.
The Indian Coast Guard played a vital role, guiding the cleanup efforts and emphasizing the importance of keeping India’s coasts clean and safe. Teachers and staff supported students at every step, making the initiative both educational and impactful.
