Harinagar, Sept. 23: With the Durga Puja festival fast approaching, the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Harinagar Mr. Manojit Halder has urged the Administration to immediately undertake repair and maintenance of several rural roads to ensure smooth celebrations and ease of movement for residents and visitors.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, the Pradhan highlighted the poor condition of key stretches including the road from Pinakinagar Yuva Samiti Building to GPS Nimbudera via Pinakinagar village, HN-4 near PHC Billiground up to Late Hiralaal Mazumder, Pinakinagar (TV Kulan Road), the road from Police Booth to Nani Karmakar via Harinagar village, and the road from ATR (NH-4) to Panchu Gopal Das at Harinagar, Ward No. 5.
He pointed out that Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the Bengali community, will be celebrated from September 27, 2025, with large gatherings expected at Billiground Bazaar. However, the deteriorated road conditions may pose serious inconvenience to devotees and commuters. Immediate repair works, he stressed, are necessary to facilitate smooth celebrations.
On September 15, 2025, Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Harinagar, along with Mr. Dilip Kumar Das, Panchayat Samiti Member (PSM) Harinagar, met Mrs. K.G. Rajavally, Executive Engineer, NACD Mayabunder, to discuss urgent matters related to the Panchayat. During the meeting, they reiterated the demand for repair and maintenance of the village roads.
The Pradhan further emphasized that timely intervention is vital not only for festival arrangements but also to address the long-standing issue of deteriorated roads, which continues to affect the daily lives of villagers.
