Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 21: As per the call given by the BSNL Casual & Contract Workers Federation, New Delhi for the nation-wide protest and dharna programme on 19th September, 2025 in front of CGM offices on various pending demands of BSNL Casual & Contract workers, The BSNL Contract Union, Andaman & Nicobar Islands staged a mass demonstration in front of the office of the CGM (Telecom), Sri Vijaya Puram at 4 p.m on19th (September, 2025). Addressing the participants in the mass demonstration, SP Kalairajan, President, BSNL Contract Mazdoor Union criticized the BSNL for neglecting the genuine and legitimate demands raised before the BSNL by the Federation. He said that the BSNL Contract Mazdoor Union, A & N Islands will continue to join the agitation to be conducted by the All-India Federation on the demands of Contract & Casual Mazdoors of BSNL in the islands. A large number of contract workers working under the BSNL participated in the mass demonstration. Anand Rajan, Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee also addressed the participants. M. Rajendran, President, BSNL Employees Union, Chitharanjan Biswas, Asst Circle Secretary, BSNLEU and C. Gandhi Kumar, General Secretary, BSNL Contract Workers Union were also present on the occasion.
The demands raised by the Federation were (1) Stop the policy of the retrenchment of the workers for adopting wrong method of tender process in SLA system, (2) ensure minimum wage and social securities in SLA system which are being curtailed due to adopting wrong policy in tender, (3) stop the new policy of outsourcing the franchisee – induct all the experienced and skilled workers in the new jobs in BSNL, (4) no curtailment of minimum wage and social security of contract and casual labourers in BSNL (5) BSNL management should fulfill all the commitments made to the CLC. No retrenchment of the workers through reduction of age, reduction in working hour and reduction in wage (6) implementation of wage revision based on 7th Pay Commission to the casual labourers subject to their regularization (8) scrap wrong method of adopting tender policy in SLA system and stop retrenchment of workers.
