Port Blair, Apr 22: The PCC President has requested the Lt Governor to consider fixing of a memorial stone in the name of Haji Farzand Ali Khan Saheb in any block of JNRM College. In his letter to the Administrator, Sharma wrote that Haji Saheb had spent a life of philanthropist and has dedicated many of his properties for the noble cause of charitable purposes for providing help to the needy person and weaker sections of the society and for his such generosity, he was bestowed with the title of Khan Saheb by the British government.
This is he, who has surrendered his prime land of entire plantation at South Point for the noble cause of construction of a Degree College by the AN Administration for the benefit of the students of the islands. Accordingly Hamid Ali, Vice President of PCC and Chairperson of Wakf Board, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Constituted by the AN Administration under Wakf Act, 1954 has requested the PCC President to take up the issue with the AN Administration on the subject.
Giving full support on the genuine request of the Chairperson, Wakf Board, and Sharma has requested to fix a memorial stone either at the Stadium or Central Hall/Library of JNRM after the name of Haji Saheb so that the future generation may recall his big-heartedness on whose land this college has been constructed where the students of all castes, creed, culture and languages are getting educated and establishing them in the society.
