
Mayabunder, September 1, 2025:The Navankur Crèche Facility was inaugurated today at the District Office, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder, by Ms. Sindhu Pillai, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), as the Chief Guest. The initiative has been launched under the guidance of Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to promote employee welfare and ensure a healthier work-life balance.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Sindhu Pillai applauded the initiative as a progressive step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive workplace that will greatly benefit both male and female employees. She emphasized that the facility reflects the administration’s commitment to gender-sensitive policies, especially in government service.
The crèche, aptly named Navankur, has been thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for children. The facility includes a table-tennis (TT) table, swing set, toys, restroom, and a dedicated play area. Special focus will be given to storytelling, developing conversation skills, and nurturing creativity among children. All items within the facility have been innovatively upcycled, underscoring the administration’s emphasis on sustainability and resourcefulness.
The event was held in the presence of Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, and Ms. Shweta K Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police (D), North & Middle Andaman.
To ensure smooth functioning and proper care, two caretakers have been appointed from the District Child Protection Unit, North & Middle Andaman.
