Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 20: To promote scientific and sustainable farming, the Union Territory Agriculture Technology Management Agency (UTATMA), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, is conducting training across various blocks of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
A two-day training programme on ‘Spices Cultivation, Post-Harvest Management, Harvesting, Processing, Storage and Value Addition’ was organized today at the Organic Horticulture Farm, Sippighat village. The programme was attended by Self Help Group members, Subject Matter Specialists from KVK, ATMA functionaries, and Departmental officials. At Nancowrie Block, the training was conducted at the Community Hall, Pilpillow village, Kamorta, in the presence of the First Captain and Second Captain of the village.
In addition, training programmes on ‘Scientific Rearing and Management of Goat’ were conducted at the Panchayat Hall, Shore Point, Ferrargunj Block and the Community Hall, Harminder Bay, Little Andaman Block, as part of the ongoing efforts of UTATMA in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services.
The programme at Shore Point was inaugurated by Shri K. Bala Krishna, Pradhan, Shore Point, South Andaman, while at Little Andaman, it was conducted in the presence of the First Captain, Harminder Bay. Altogether, 80 farmers actively participated in these training programmes.
