Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 04: The Block Project Office (BPO), Diglipur, under the aegis of Inclusive Education (Samagra Shiksha), successfully organized an Identification and Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) on 04th August 2025 at Vivekananda Multipurpose Hall, Diglipur, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The primary objective of the camp was to identify, assess, and recommend appropriate interventions and assistive aids for CwSNs to foster inclusive education and equitable learning opportunities.
The camp was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Rajendra Kumar, Block Development Officer, and Ms. Sulochana, Block Project Officer, Diglipur, who attended as chief guests and encouraged the stakeholders for their commitment toward inclusive practices in education. Their presence reinforced the significance of community and administrative participation in supporting children with diverse learning needs.
A total of 161 children participated in the camp, out of which 102 were newly suspected cases, referred by their respective schools and duly scrutinized by Special Educators. Additionally, 59 registered CwSN candidates appeared before the screening panel to avail the benefits and support services. The comprehensive assessment process involved both educational assessment and medical screening to identify the specific needs of each child. Based on the findings, appropriate aids and appliances were recommended to eligible children to improve their functional abilities and facilitate better access to education and daily activities.
The camp witnessed the collaborative involvement of multidisciplinary professionals. Rehabilitation experts included Ms. Sakshi Baidya (Audiologist), Mr. Himadri Shekar Debsharma (Prosthetics & Orthotics), Mr. Rajesh Kumar (EDP Specialist), Mrs. Sathaiah (External Observer), and Mr. Jai Singh (Special Educator), who conducted educational screenings and functional assessments.
Furthermore, Ms. S. Vijaya, Block Resource Person (CwSN), displayed assistive devices and learning materials, ensuring stakeholders were informed of available educational support tools. Medical support was efficiently provided by Dr. Abdul Raheem (RBSK), Dr. Diksha (Dental Specialist), Mr. Nirmal (Dental Assistant), Ms. Shravani (Pediatrician), Ms. Seema (Health Educator), and Ms. Sandhya Kumari (Junior Investigator), contributing to the holistic health screening of the participants. “The selfie stand was more than just a photo spot — it was a symbol of unity, equality, and justice, created to bring attention to the voices of Children With Special Needs (CWSN). By encouraging participation and visibility, it brought people together to stand for what truly matters: inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity for every child.”
The camp was systematically coordinated and supervised by Ms. N. Riya Nandan,PSRT the overall programme coordinator, whose efforts ensured the event’s seamless execution and alignment with the objectives of Inclusive Education under Samagra Shiksha.
