Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: Zilla Parishad Member Mr. Alager Swamy recently met with the Director of Education and Sports Mr. Vikram Singh to discuss key educational and infrastructure issues concerning the Baratang region. The following important matters were raised:
1) Land Allotment for Educational Infrastructure
An area of 4.0 hectares (Survey No. 1/3) located in Nilambur Village, Baratang, has already been allotted to the Education Department, as per Form F (Record of Holding) available on the Revenue Department portal:
2) Forest Clearance Requirement
The Hon’ble Supreme Court in W\.P. (C) No. 202 of 1995 (T.N. Godavarman Thirumulpad vs Union of India) has directed that any land recorded as forest—even if not officially notified—requires clearance under the Forest Conservation Act (FCA), 1980 before being used for non-forestry purposes.
The Director assured to take all necessary action to expedite the ground clearance process in coordination with the concerned authorities.
3) PGT Mathematics Vacancy at GSSS Oralkatcha
For the past one year, the PGT Mathematics post at GSSS Oralkatcha has remained vacant, affecting the academic progress of senior students.
The Director assured that fresh recruitment will be completed within two months, and the new PGT (Mathematics) will be appointed soon after.
4) Promotion of Sports & Youth Talent in Baratang,
Alager Swamy emphasized the enthusiasm and potential of Baratang’s youth in sports and extracurricular activities.
The Director acknowledged this and assured full logistics support to encourage and promote sporting talent across Baratang.
