
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: At the call given by the Forum of Civil Pensioners Associations, New Delhi, central government pensioners all over the country organized “Human Chain” at District and State Headquarters today (25th July, 2025) demanding (i) immediate setting up of 8th Central Pay Commission and (ii) withdrawal of the Government of India’s decision to differentiate pensioners on the basis of their date of retirement (Part IV of Chapter V of Finance Act, 2025).
In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Government Pensioners Association, has organised the “Human Chain” at Port Blair (near Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazar) in which many pensioners including women pensioners participated. Inaugurating the Human Chain, KG Das, President, Govt Pensioners Association criticized the central government for trying to differentiate pensioners based on their date of retirement. Addressing the gathering of pensioners, D. Ayyappan, former General Secretary of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers Association, briefly explained the provisions made in the Finance Act 2025 by which the government has been authorized to differentiate the pensioners on the date of their retirement.
He said that the government’s intention is to categorise the pensioners to deny the 8th Central Pay Commission benefits to the pensioners. Addressing the gathering, Pronob Banerjee, Vice President of the Govt. Pensioners Association said that this is the first phase of agitation by pensioners and more agitations are planned on the issue nation-wide.
K.G. Das, President, Govt Pensioners Association was the first link in the Human Chain in front of SBI Main Branch while Suresh Lall, General Secretary was the last Link at the end of the Tiranga Park.
