Port Blair, Apr 12: Andaman and Nicobar Administration is all set to conduct its second Beach Festival-2013 from 19 to 21 April 2013.
Addressing a press conference at the Media Centre of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) Building, Port Blair, Mr. Amit Satija, IAS, and Director of IP&T today said that the beach festival will be a three day celebration filled with music by live musical orchestra groups.
“Besides this, Sports Department will organize Beach Sports like beach volley ball, beach kabbadi, tug of war, coconut tree climbing, and musical chair for ladies etc. Food Stalls, handicraft sales counter will also add stars to the event,” Mr. Satija added.
He said that the Art and Culture Department will organize activities like book reading, storytelling, beach painting, street play etc. for the entertainment of the visitors and the Agriculture department will put up their tender coconut sale counter and will also arrange live demonstration of their activities.
Mr. Amit also informed that busses will be arranged by the transport department which will provide free of cost service to reach the event venue. He further added that FORTO a tourism related organization is also arranging free bus service for the general public as a good will gesture.
Besides these, Firework display will be an added attraction on the opening and closing ceremony, he said.
Mr. Satija informed the media that the department had planned to arrange kite surfing an adventure sports this time but due to non-availability of sufficient wind speed the plan was dropped and they will arrange kite surfing once the experts approve that the wind speed is right for the sport.
