Diglipur, Apr 12: Under Door Step Banking services, the Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank (ANSCB) launched Ultra Small Branch (USB) at Radhanagar & Kishorinagar on 11th April, 2013 as per the Financial Inclusion Initiative (FII) of RBI by Mr. Bhagat Singh, Chairman of the Bank & Mr. Uttam Saha, Pradhan, Radhanagar Panchayat. The Managing Director, ANSCB, BODs, Officials of the Bank, PRI members, eminent leaders, Head of Departments of the area and a large gathering attended the programme. The Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Bhagat Singh, in his address, exhorted villagers to avail benefits from the USB and various schemes launched by the Bank for the people of these Islands.
A similar USB branch was also launched at Kishorinagar on the same day. Inaugurating the branch, the Chairman, ANSCB, Mr Bhagat Singh, reiterated that ANSCB would continue to provide all banking facilities like ATMs, modernized branches throughout the islands. He urged the people to Bank upon with ANSCB Ltd. and to form Self Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) by the unemployed youth and women for availing micro credit facilities being extended by the Bank for their upliftment. The BODs of ANSCB were also present on the occasion.
With the current launches, the ANSCB Ltd. has extended USB services in five unbanked areas viz. Long Island, Betapur, Nimbutala, Radhanagar and Kishorinagar to provide Banking facilities of these areas at their door step.
The Managing Director, Mr Ravinder Rao appraised the gathering about the working of USB and the various Banking facilities/schemes being provided by ANSCB Ltd. and also appealed the people to take maximum benefit enabling them to start income generating activities for their socio economic development. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. T Subramaniam, DGM, N & M Andaman.
