Sri Vijaya Puram, Jun 22: The Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, joined the global celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga yesterday with great zeal and participation. The event, held at the Zilla Parishad premises in Sri Vijaya Puram, witnessed the active involvement of Zilla Parishad members and officials, reinforcing the universal message of “Yoga for Self and Society.”
The program commenced with a mass yoga session led by certified instructors from the AYUSH department. Participants performed various yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques, aligning with this year’s theme “Yoga for one earth, one Health.”
Inaugurating the event, Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life to enhance physical health, mental well-being, and spiritual growth. “Yoga is India’s gift to the world. It connects the body, mind, and soul, and promotes a lifestyle of balance and mindfulness,” he said.
