Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: In compliance to the Chief Secretary’s directive to conduct quarterly mock drills across all Departments, the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration organized a Mock Drill on Earthquake and Fire at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Sri Vijaya Puram, yesterday. The exercise was conducted in coordination with the Fire & Emergency Services, Transport and District Administration. The objective of the drill was to assess real-time preparedness, Inter-Departmental coordination, and the efficiency of response mechanisms during a simulated earthquake followed by a fire outbreak.
Immediately on the receipt of information of Earthquake & Fire Incident, the Teams of AH&VS triggered their response mechanism to tackle the emergency Earthquake & fire situation and informed Mock incident to DEOC (S/A), SEOC, Fire & Health Control Rooms etc. Meanwhile the staff and Team of AH&VS have been activated to manage earthquake and fire scenario. As information received, the Teams of Police, Fire, NDRF, District Administration, Health, APWD and Disaster Management reported at the site with resources and tackle the situation with coordinated method.
The Mock Drill was called off and this was followed by a debriefing session, wherein the Observers of the Mock Drill explained the findings and gaps of the Mock Drill. The officers of Resource Departments were urged to check their preparedness regularly and provide trainings to their teams with basic skill on safety measures to cope up any crisis in near future.
