Port Blair, Apr 8: On the occasion of World Health day to create awareness on prevention and control of High Blood Pressure. Primary Health Centre, Chouldari organized a series of awareness programmes at various villages of Chouldari by the staff of PHC. Main Programme was organized at conference hall of PHC, Chouldari. 45 community members including PRI’s & AWW’s attended the programme. Dr. P.C. Bhatnagar (Medical officer I/C) PHC, Chouldari discussed about the prevention, control & management of Diseases.
It was emphasized that in majority of cases there are no sign & symptoms; therefore it is essential to get BP checked regularly. Reducing salt intake, avoiding tobacco & Alcohol use, doing regular exercise are some of the ways of keeping blood pressure under control. It was explained that if any medicines are prescribed for control of BP than these should be taken regularly and not discontinued without advise of doctor.
Mr. Tapan Kumar Parida, Health Educator and ANMs of the PHC also shared their views about High Blood Pressure & other health related Issues. Participants also raised various questions to clarify their doubts. The Community members appreciated the efforts of staff of the PHC.
