Port Blair, Mar 28:Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC along with a delegation of unemployed youths involved in water sports activities at North Bay met Mr. Rupesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman on 25th March, 2013 and introduced these unemployed youths of the Isles to the DC who have started water sports activities at North Bay to become self independent and support their family members.
He also informed the DC that these unemployed youth to establish their business of Jet Ski rides, sofa rides, scuba diving, snorkeling, etc have taken interest bearing loan. He also told him that these personnel’s are not only earning their livelihood through their own efforts but also promoting tourism in these Islands.
He informed the DC that recently A&N Administration had issued order suspending all water sports activities at North Bay. The unemployed youths with the implementation of the order, have become stranded and horrified as to how to run their business, look after their families and repay loan etc. Batting for these youths, Mr. Sharma has stated that in the era of unemployment, they have created their own self employment reducing the burden of the Administration and have also contributed towards development of tourism sector in these Islands which is also the backbone of these Islands.
Mr. Sharma requested the DC to allow them to run their water sports business uninterruptedly. The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured to look into the matter.
