Port Blair, Mar 25: An incident of firing took place on Saturday evening (23rd of March) in a Police Line quarter in which the son ofan ASI apparently shot himself with the service revolver of his father when the family members were away. When his father and cousins returned home and found the house bolted from inside, they opened the door through a window and found the 22-year old Satnam Singh lying injured on the floor, with the revolver on his side. He was immediately evacuated in a PCR Ambulance to GB Pant Hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.
Police and Forensic Science teams inspected the spot immediately and completed necessary forensic procedures, including seizure of the revolver, some blood stained clothes etc. from the spot. Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicidal firing.
