Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 29: A viral video circulating on social media showing a massive crocodile in the Wright Myo Nallah of South Andaman district has raised alarm among residents. The presence of the reptile in the area has become a topic of concern, especially for those who frequent the nallah for fishing.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, Ms. Sajida Banu, Pradhan of Manarghat Village, confirmed that crocodiles are often spotted near the sea and at various entry points of the creek. However, she emphasized that the real danger arises when they venture deeper into the nallah, posing a direct threat to locals.
“While we usually avoid going near such areas, many people rely on fishing in the nallah, making the presence of a crocodile a significant risk. This situation demands immediate attention,” Mrs. Banu stated.
She further mentioned that she is unsure if the Forest Department has taken any action yet but expressed hope that authorities will relocate the crocodile to a safer location at the earliest, ensuring the safety of the residents in the region.
