Port Blair, Aug 07: The former Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, alongside a delegation of pre-primary teachers, pre- primary aayas and part-time attendants from the Education Department, met with the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration yesterday to discuss pressing issues affecting these essential educational staff.
During the interaction, the former Member of Parliament highlighted the significant challenges faced by the pre-primary teachers and attendants, who have been serving the Education Department for nearly 15 years. Historically, their tenure has been extended annually by the department. However, this year, for unknown reasons, their tenure was not extended following the summer vacation, leading to severe financial difficulties for these staff members.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasized that many of these individuals are the primary earners for their families, and the delay in extending their tenure has caused substantial hardship. He urgently requested the Chief Secretary to intervene into this issue, enabling them to resume their duties and secure their livelihoods.
The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to the concerns raised and assured Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma and the delegation that he will look into the matter.
