Port Blair, Feb 26: The Department of Home Science, JNRM in collaboration with NABARD, Port Blair is organized two days workshop on “Financial Literacy for Women Students”. The valedictory function of the workshop was held on 26th February 2013 in JNRM seminar Hall. Chief Guest of the function Smt Ratna Kannan, Chairperson, A & N State Social Welfare Board, happy to see the active participation of girls students. She also stated that the nation can only prosper and reach greater heights when women take active part in economic spheres. She appreciated the efforts taken by the Department of Home Science in organizing this workshop.
Mr. V A Raghavan, Manager, NABARD Guest of Honour, stated that the programme is first of its kind in this group of islands. He also handled two sessions of the workshop and advised participants to carry forward the message to the needy women of the society. Principal, Dr Iqbal Ahmad encouraged girl students to be self dependent in true sense in all financial matters.
He thanked all resource persons and Department of Home Science. Earlier Mr. GSV Prasad, Assistant Professor & HOD, History welcomed the gathering and explained about the achievement of this programme. Smt Nidhi Shekhawat, Assistant Professor in Home Science proposed vote of thanks and Smt Nidhi Katiyar, Assistant Professor in Home Science coordinated the event. All together around 110 women students from various departments took part in the two days workshop. Mr. K Venkatesan, Assistant Professor & HOD, Department of Home Science arranged the two days workshop.
