Port Blair, July 15: Aberdeen Police team conducted a major operation against illegal alcohol sales, seizing a significant quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles valued at over Rs. 4 lakhs from a local Bar & Restaurant on July 9, 2024. The restaurant’s manager was caught selling IMFL after the expiration of their license, thus breaching regulatory requirements.
Based on a credible information, a team led by Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO of PS Aberdeen, along with Inspector Mithun Kirtoniya, Head Constable Nakul Halder, and Police Constables K. Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh Yadav, P. Mohd. Rafique, Jayraj, and HG(R) Jai Prakash (Police Photo/Videographer), conducted a raid at Hotel AR Honey Hub located at Gandhi Market. The operation resulted in the seizure of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles valued at over Rs. 4 lakhs, which were being illegally sold to patrons without complying with legal requirements.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the Manager Kannappan Arumugam S/o Shri. Arumugam (50) yrs R/o Aberdeen Bazaar under relevant sections of the A&N Excise Regulation 1876. Further investigations are underway.
The raid took place under the guidance of Sh. Vikas, IPS, Sub Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman and overall supervision of Smt. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
The South Andaman District Police urges citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illegal alcohol sales or other illicit practices at 112, 03192-232100, 03192-233077 & 03192-232400, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining law and order. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
