Port Blair, Jun 09: The World Environment Day was celebrated by Zilla Parishad South Andaman on 08.06.2024 at Atal Bhawan and Zilla Niwas, South Andaman. A “Cleanliness drive & Sapling Plantation” initiative was organized under the guidance of Mrs. M Rajani, Adhyaksha & Mr. Sharfuddin, Up-Adhyaksh in the presence of Mr. L Gandhi, Executive Engineer, other ZP Members and officials of ZPSA.
The celebration began with the Adhyaksha, emphasizing on the importance of cleanliness around our premises and highlighted the initiatives that can be taken in a collective manner towards fostering a healthy and sustainable environment. The Up-Adhyaksh stressed on the need for growing greener spaces and its positive impact on our surroundings.
Further, the plantation drive was carried out at Atal Bhawan and Zilla Niwas wherein saplings of Guava, Lemon, Indian Gooseberry, Papaya and Tamarind were planted systematically around the premises. The garbage collected in the bin bags was accumulated for disposal.
The Celebration ended with the Adhyaksha commending the gathering on collective effort towards successful conduct of the Cleanliness & Plantation Drive.
