
Port Blair, March 27: The Union Territory/State level Yoga Olympiad held on March 27, 2024, at the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Port Blair showcased the exceptional talent of young yogis from the region. The event, held in the program hall, witnessed spirited participation and impressive performances from students across various categories.
In the Upper Primary Boys category, all four top positions were clinched by students from the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Swarajgram. The results stood as follows: First place was secured by Shivajeet Das, followed by Abhay Mondal in second place, Biddut Das in third, and Amit Dey in fourth.
Similarly, in the Upper Primary Girls category, Pritika Das claimed the first position while Sangita Biswas secured the third position.
Moving on to the Secondary level Boys, Subajeet Halder emerged victorious in the first position, with Aman Biswas securing third place and Bishal Biswas clinching the fourth position. Notably, all prizes in this category were swept by students from GSSS Swarajgram.
In the Secondary level Girls category, the trend continued with all four positions secured by students from GSSS Swarajgram. Riya Mondal claimed the first position, followed by Arpita Das in second, Trisha Sarkar in third, and Hashi Bepari in fourth.
A total of 16 students were selected from the islands to represent at the National level Yoga Olympiad scheduled to take place in June 2024 in New Delhi. Impressively, 13 out of these 16 students hailed from GSSS Swarajgram, showcasing the school’s commitment to nurturing talent in yoga. The remaining three students were selected from different schools in South Andaman.
