Rangat, Mar. 3: NABARD for the first time organized two days Mela for the SHGs on 2nd and 3rd March, 2024 at Rangat in association with Voice of Compassion to India (VOCI), an NGO. The Mela was participated by 28 SHGs from 9 Panchayats viz., Rangat, Kaushalyanagar, Urmilapur, Bakultala, Sabari, Parnasala, Dasarathpur, Nimbutala and Shivapuram and 40 villages. The SHG members displayed their products ranging from agriculture produce, eatables, handicrafts to daily needs like agarbattis, detergents etc. made by them. The Mela received an encouraging response and footfall from the locals.
Smt. Sapna Priya, AC, Middle Andaman was the chief guest on the occasion. Smti Laxmi, Pradhan, Rangat Gram Panchayat, Smt Rupa Halder, Pradhan, Dasarathpur Gram Panchayat, Shri George Kujur, Pradhan, Kaushalyanagar Gram Panchayat, Shri Shakeel Ahmed, Cluster Coordinator and Shri Santosh Devnath, Cluster Coordinator under CD Block Rangat and Shri Devraj, Chairman, Voice of Compassion of India were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the efforts taken by NABARD to support the SHG members in making them self-reliant and in providing a marketing platform to the SHGs. She also emphasized that due to the skill development programmes provided by NABARD, the SHGs could make the products, earn their livelihood and also scale up their products.
The SHGs appreciated the efforts taken by NABARD for giving them a platform to market their products. Smt. Suja Nambiar, Assistant Manager, NABARD explained about the various NABARD schemes for the SHGs which would help them in their capacity building and various marketing avenues which NABARD provides to market their products to support the SHGs to help them in earning sustainable livelihood and become women entrepreneurs.
